races is for the democratic nomination for city state's attorney. kim dacey joins us live with more on that race. >> patricia jessamy will take on gregg bernstein at the polls today. the baptist ministers are backing jessamy. bernstein picked up the endorsements of a well-known attorney and former judge. pat jessamy and gregg bernstein both spend part of the last day before the primary campaigning. both picked up endorsements. billy murphy publicly declared his support for bernstein. >> considering the platforms both candidates, i think his platform is superior to hers. she had a failed tenure. >> representing more than 200 of the city's religious

we have posted a link to find your polling place. it is all add wbaltv.com. >> opening statements were made in the trial of the three men accused of killing ken harris. along with the statements, the woman took the stand and told her story. charles mcganey, garry collins, and jerome williams are accused of shooting harris to death in 2008. it is reported he was trying to get away from a robbery when he pulled over to pick up a corkscrew. in the car with him was monica foreman robinson. she said she stayed in the car. she said harris was trying to get away from a gunman. the defense said she did say she heard a gun shot. for more on the case, you can visit our website wbaltv.com and click on local news. pieces of a damaged pipeline are

now on the way to a lab in washington, d.c., for analysis. >> they are trying to determine what caused the mass of gas line ruptured. close to 40 homes were destroyed. four people were killed. >> gas station video of last week's gas explosion. a few of what is left. the company that owns the gas line said they will provide $100 million to help families affected by the blast. >> this has been a tremendous disaster. we want the people to know we're doing everything we can. >> they have inspected all of the natural gas lines as ordered by a federal regulators. there is concern about aging pipe lines. >> in many local communities, because of a lack of local rules

and regulations, neighborhoods have been able to grown over these high pressure pipelines. >> they claim their pipelines are say. critics say they should have replaced the winds earlier, pointing to a memo that reads, the likelihood of failure is unacceptably high. more than half the homes in america are heated by natural gas. officials hope what they learned will help prevent future disasters. leanne gregg, nbc news. >> republicans and democrats are fighting over tax cuts and the economy. republicans want to extend the bush-era tax cuts for everyone around. republicans think this will stall job creation and the economic recovery. the obama administration disagrees. they think they can get small businesses to hire again.

a beautiful shot of the downtown area. 67 degrees at the maryland science center. the suburbs are in the 50's in most locations. 10 degrees warmer from the city out of town. we start out cool and we will wind up warm. we will be close to 80 degrees today. there is a breeze out of the west and just a few clouds. we will check the seven-day forecast coming up in just a few minutes. we will give you the latest on the tropics. for now, over to the news desk. >> the common asthma and drug may also help multiple sclerosis patients. clinical trials, it appears to enhance the effects of the ms drug. ms patients who took both had fewer relapses of their disease. many had been preparing for the upcoming flu season by stocking

at home you would never pay a bill without reading it neither should congress. i'm frank kratovil and i approve this message because i'm proud to be ranked one of the most independent members of congress. i'm not the kind of guy who likes to hang on the sidelines. today maryland is in trouble. we're worse off than we were four years ago. dangerous debt, higher taxes, not enough jobs. we need real leadership to turn this state around. fix the budget -- honestly. grow small businesses -- really. excellent schools -- everywhere. protect the bay -- finally. it's why i'm running. to make the state we love not just good but great. now let's get down to work.

>> now traffic pulse 11 and insta-weather plus together. >> good morning. sarah caldwell checking on your morning commute. not a whole lot happening out there. no delays to contend with. you can see the only spot getting close to being sluggish is right on 95 in the beltway northeast. everything moving well once you get on to the northeast side. 62 miiles per hour on southbound 795 approaching owings mills pert and easy ride on eastbound 70 in towards 29. 10 minutes south on 95 down to 32 in howard county. eight minutes on the inner loop over towards 83. the harrisburg expressway is checking out fine at shawan road. this is 295 at 32, so far

running smoothly north and southbound. that is the latest on traffic pulse 11. now let's get the latest on the buses and the trains. >> we have a delay on the camden line. it is running 10 to 15 minutes late. brunswick trains are operating on schedule. on the buses, a few diversions related to construction. the 91 bus is diverting yet fayette and eutaw street. now back to tony pann. >> we are off to a quiet start on this tuesday morning. we will give it the latest on the tropics in a moment. first we say good morning to sandra shaw. she has found another charity for us to support. >> this is the second annual fort mchenry tunnel run. it is a five-k race on sunday.

you actually run through the tunnel and come back the other way. it is an interesting experience and benefits the special olympics of maryland. all of the runners are looking for something creative in a road race. you are with us this morning and you ran this last year. what is this like? >> is very unique. we have modeled it after the new york lincoln tunnel run. we go out and back in one of the tubes. it is a five-k and it is safe run what. you cannot walk it. >> you get a different perspective -- you can walk it. >> we have fun facts along the way, how far along you are under the water. some things for walkers. generally runners do not see many of the fun facts.

it will make for a beautiful sunrise in just a few minutes. we do have a system that we're watching. it will give us our next best chance for precipitation. this will move through late thursday into friday morning. we do have this front that will come through today dry. you will see a little bit of a wind shift. that is about it. still a monster hurricane in the tropics. sustained winds are down to 135 miles per hour. it is still a category 4 storm. it has a well-defined eye. when you see that, i think it is getting stronger. the next update, i bet it is back up to 150 miles per hour. it is going to miss the islands. it is still going to be coming close to the east coast of the

united states. close enough for us to keep an eye on it. it is a dangerous storm. we have a mix of sunshine and some clouds. high temperature in the upper 70's and low 80's. overnight tonight, these guys will clear behind the front. it will turn cooler with temperatures dropping down to 50 or 51 in the northwest suburbs. a nice day on wednesday, a couple of degrees cooler. we will see clouds thicken up on thursday. the next chance for rain comes in on thursday afternoon. even then, not a big chance for rain. the weekend looks ok. sunshine on saturday and sunday with high temperatures around 80 degrees. >> it is 69 degrees on tv hill. so much more ahead -- >> including a look at your answers to our water cooler question of the day. >> here is a look at last
